A Very Special Toyzville...

I am reluctant to write this, but after several months of soul searching, I've decide to step out of Toyzville for an indefinite amount of time. It has been increasingly difficult to stay motivated to write and draw the strips lately and I don't want to offer up half-hearted attempts at art and humor.
I have put considerable time and effort into Toyzville these past (almost) two years and I have wanted to step it up a level, but some things have held me back. First - I use a bunch of other folks property in the strip - Brock is a Lego, Bartender Batman, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, Barbie... the list goes on. Tom is the only original character aside from a few throw-aways. Yeah, I can play with them and perhaps use parody as a legal defense, but I can never market the strip. I wouldn't feel comfortable even printing a compilation book. Second - I have other ideas and projects that I've been working on or wanted to work on that eat into my time. Third - work (my day job that pays the bills) has been busier and more stressful lately which leaves me burnt out in the evenings. Blah blah blah... I know! So what does this mean to you, my faithful readers? Well, obviously, no new Toyzville for a while, if ever. You have over 150 strips you can go back and read as this website will stay up as long as there are people looking at it. But what about NEW stuff? You want to see new funnies, right? So do I! Therefor, in collaboration with my buddy Steve Campbell (already a world-famous webcartoonist), I'll be working on a new webcomic. I'll be handling the artwork primarily with Steve providing the words primarily and together we hope we can take over the world. Um.. I mean... produce a funny comic strip several times a week. Do me a big favor - bookmark The Boids and check back occasionally. Also look for announcements from various other webcomics and comic-related websites. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate the time you spent in Toyzville with me. -Larry |
